Discussion on Gender Disparity

It is a fact that there are very few women compared to men in thefields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) especially inhigher status positions.

What are the reasons for this disparity?  Is it possible to change this situation?  Why or why not?  (In your discussion, make sure to refer to atleast TWO of the articles on gender covered in class.)
